How to Add Zipper Tabs

Noelle of Old Dog Sewing shared her method of adding zipper tabs to her beautiful Clarendon Crossbody Wallet.

I love how her zipper tab method turned out!  Besides being a great accent detail, using zipper tabs keep the zippers out of the seam allowances.  This makes top-stitching around the edge of the flap much easier.   I made a video tutorial using Noelle’s method of adding zipper tabs to the Clarendon Crossbody Wallet.

To try out this Zipper Tab option, watch the video HERE.

The zipper tabs add a fun pop of fabric to the sides of the zippers!

The Clarendon Crossbody Wallet sewing pattern is accompanied by detailed, step-by step videos to walk you through the instructions from start to finish.

The sewing pattern is available for purchase HERE.

I chose contrasting fabrics for my zipper tabs.

I decided to make the back panel from the exterior fabric and use cork as accents.

For this bag, I omitted the Back Exterior Panel (A). Instead, I cut a second set of the following pieces: Accent Below Pocket (H) and Panel Beneath Flap (J). I joined H and J and used them as the back of the bag.  I’m really pleased with the outcome!

The 8 card slots and slip pocket eliminate the need for a wallet.  This is such a handy feature of this compact crossbody bag!

Thanks, Noelle, for sharing your wonderful idea with us!
